Date: 3/22/98

Characters: DM, Rio & Glow, Caland, Bo, Erin, Vorn, Saunder

 

Pick up immediatly after battle with Rio working on extinguishing the fire. Caland and Vorn are healing themselves by various measures while the rest of the group is surveying the situation and checking the surroundings. There is still a few hours left before nightfall and the decision needs to be made as to how to proceed.

 

As Caland is examining Benetons body he discovers a scroll that turns out to be the mages Last Will and Testament. After determining that there are MANY undead bodies lying about Rio decides to build a pyre and torch the evil creatures. It takes a LONG time to burn the bodies and the process is interrupted by Bo who is charged with reading and excuting the will. The mage leaves his cash to Rio and Glow to give to a charity of their choosing.

 

During first watch Glow smells something very musky that seems to be coming from some distance away. She alerts Rio who cautiously investigates. Sensing no danger he lets the rest of the group know to be aware while on watch. The rest of the evening passes uneventfully.

 

By noon of the next day we've destroyed the rest of the undead bodies but are covered with sweat and are covered in soot and stench. After setting out we travel for a short distance hoping to find a stream or small lake to wash off but after an hour or so of travel we've not found anything. Rio finally decides to do some aerial reconnaisance but he soon realizes it will be very easy for him to lose the group in the thick forest so he stays very close. After realizing that at this rate he can't really learn much about the surroundings he returns to the group and rides on Glow's shoulder for the rest of the day. Close to evening we find a small stream and it gives the group a chance to clean off.

 

We find a spot to camp for the night and fortunatly the evening passes uneventfully.

 

After setting off the next morning we travel for a few hours and then Saunder is nearly brain-bashed by a large rock swinging from nothing. Well... actually its suspended from a thin, invisible wire. Rio flies up to the tree branch to investigate. Not being able to gather information in hawk form Rio changes form to that of a grey squirrel and tries to determine if he can detach the thin invisible cable.

 

All of a sudden the group is attacked by what appear to be skeletal bats. Rio, unsure if they are coming to attack him, leaps for a different branch. However, the creatures are attacking the group on the ground.

 

MELEE

 

Saunder immediatly turns 6 of the 10 creatures. Rio scampers back up to the branch the rock is suspended from and begins wirking on untieing the knot. By the end of the second round he's got the knot loosened and the rock comes tumbling to the ground. He then returns to human form and casts Aura of Nature. The remaining creatures flee.

 

Saunder coils up the invisible wire, ties a string around, and puts it away with the stuff in his pack. As we begin to travel Vorn determines that there is another trap just a short distance in front of it. He is able to set it off without major harm to himself but continues to sense danger from ahead of us.

 

All of a sudden there is an Insect Plague around us. Caland, using his Boots of Speed, runs ahead of us and disappears. Vorn, and then Saunder, are cought by snare traps and then cut down. Rio casts his remaining Acorn into the swarm which disapates. The druid then casts Flame Blade and charges ahead. He comes to a dark clearing where he sees a bunch of evil creatures locked in battle with Caland and Bo.

 

MELEE

 

Rio begins to cast Protection From Evil 10' Radius and is fortunate to get the spell off. Glow tries to use her Molecular Agitation but it is somehow repulsed.
