Start at dawn on the 30th day of Tarsach. Bo and Beneton, who are on watch, hear a low moaning from behind the boxes of swords down in the hold. Investigating they discover Saunder, naked and covered in slime. He's disoriented but manages to get up and express an interest in breakfast.

 

Rio and Glow arise fairly early and meet the rest for breakfast. Erin is there with the rest but claims not to remember anything of the previous evening as he seems to have had too much to drink. Caland, invisible, goes into Heselos cabin and waits for something to happen. The morning passes uneventfully and lunch time finds Rio and Glow sitting at the bow of the ship talking quietly.

 

The afternoon also passes uneventfully and by the time dinner rolls around Caland has still not been seen. However, during dinner which consists of steamed crab as a nice change from the stewed fish, Vorn hears a commotion coming from the cabin area. The ranger jumps up and heads off to investigate alerting those in the dining area. Beneton, Rio, Glow and several of the off duty sailors also jump up and run to investigate. Vorn bursts into the room and moves to assist Caland, who is locked in a wrestling match with Heselo, by attempting to step on the beak-nosed mans throat. They easily take control of the man physically and Vorn flips him over and ties his hands together behind his back. They also gag him and then manhandle him onto the deck.

 

After a brief discussion he is hauled off to the brig for interagation. Caland, Erin and Vorn conduct a rather unfruitful questioning. Having gained no useful information they knock him out and drag him back up on deck and tie him to the mast where he can be easily observed.

 

A short while before sunset we notice several of the sailors up on deck barfing overboard. It turns out that the crab for dinner was somehow poisoned. Both Rio and Glow suffer only minor discomfort but a few of the sailors and pirates actually die. Saunder is among those severely affected and takes a large amount of damage. Rio, Glow and Vorn go down to the galley to examine the cook pot and the cooked and uncooked crabs.

We discover that the crabs were indeed poisoned after cooking. The cook and most of the galley crew are dead. Rio casts Cure Serious Wounds on the first mate, Saunder and Feather and then Cure Light Wounds on the remaining crew members who need it. Rio and Glow then help Erin gather up the dead bodies and bring them out on deck. We give them a final blessing and then commend the bodies to the sea.

 

Caland, during a search of the bird sisters quarters, finds an invisible chest which he is able to open with a knock spell. He discovers his rings which had previously been stolen and Merlors gems.

 

The night passes uneventfully and early in the morning we spot another ship approaching from the landward side and behind us. Bo asks if Rio will investigate. The druid transforms into a falcon and flies in a circuitous route over to the other ship. He lands in the rigging and watches the ships activity for a few minutes. Seeing that it seems to be a non-hostile merchant ship he swoops down to a point where he can hear the captains conversation. The captain has recognized our ship and has his men run up a flag saying "Do you need help?". A few minutes later an "All OK" flag is run up on our ship and the captain shrugs and makes the comment that the captain, meaning our original captain whom he knows, must know what she's about.

 

After a half-hour or so Rio returns to our ship but does not return to human form. Glow holds up her arm and Rio swoops up to converse telepathically with her. She relays the information to Bo. Bo calls out to a crew member to run up the "Need Help" flag.

 

A short time later the other ship catches up to us and there is an exchange of conversations and crew members. The other captain is initially suspicious of us but fortunately one of the original crewmen is able to ease the mans wariness.

 

Fortunately the rest of the day passes uneventfully as does the night. It is now the 2nd of Mirtul and we should hopefully dock by late evening. Mid-morning we spot a fishing fleet. Rio again goes to investigate and finds that they are exactly what they seem to be and he snags a fish off of their deck. The crew again seems to think that the Falcon is a good omen and don't harass him.

 

The rest of the day passes uneventfully and by midnight we reach the port and an old man calls out from the dock. He recognizes our ship and says that the carts are waiting for us so we dock as best we can. It takes several hours to unload the cargo and by 3:00 in the morning we're all loaded up and ready to go. Rio remains in Falcon form and rides on Glow's shoulder. There are eight wagons and Vorn, Glow w/Rio, Beneton, Saunder, Bo, Caland & Feather, First Mate, and Erin load themselves on the wagons respectivly.

 

The wagons set off and travel through the small town. As we are travelling along the main road through town a log wagon pulls out in front of us and another behind. The drivers of these wagons hop off and kill the oxen pulling them which completely blocks our passage both forward and behind. Arrows begin to rain down upon us.

 

MELEE

 

Rio leaps into the air and flies off for Aithe keep. Glow scrambles off the wagon and hides beneath. She then begins invoking her Chameleon Power ability.

 

BREAK MID MELEE

 

3 rounds have passed.

 

Rio has two more rounds of flight before reaching Aithe keep.

Glow has successfully invoked her Chameleon Power and is hiding under wagon 2 preparing to sneak off and find some way to help.

Beneton has jumped off wagon 3 and is attempting to head down Eel street.

Caland & Feather both have Stone Skin. Still on wagon 6.

Bo is near the intersection of High Street and Eel Street. His opponents have just been toasted by a Flame Strike.

Erin is at the end of the line attacking FA1, FA2 and FA4.

Saunder is next to Bo. Both of them have just been hit by a Flame Strike but suffered relatively minor damage.

Vorn still on cart one. Just hit by flame strike and on fire.

First Mate killed by arrow fire.

 

Wagon 1 - Vorn standing on wagon just hit by flame strike and on fire. Drover dead. Oxen still ok. Cart is obscured by Vorns spell.

Wagon 2 - Glow hiding beneath with Chameleon Power. Drover ducked down obscured. Oxen ok. Cart is obscured by Vorns spell.

Wagon 3 - Beneton down advancing toward Eel Street. Drover dead. Oxen ok. Cart is partially obscured by Vorns spell.

Wagon 4 - Saunder down. Drover dead. Oxen dead/ok.

Wagon 5 - Bo down. Drover Dead. Oxen dead.

Wagon 6 - Caland & Feather stoneskin. Drover dead. Oxen dead.

Wagon 7 - First Mate dead. Drover dead. Oxen dead /ok.

Wagon 8 - Erin down attacking FA1, FA2, FA4. Drover dead. Oxen dead.
