A'Tora and Lew are weakened from dragon's blast. The ship needs minor repair from damage caused by dragon's tail which was not discovered until the ship returned to the water.

The ship is being repaired and will be ready by mid morning the next day. Highspirits has been talking with the Harbormaster and returns at dusk with the news that Cimbar holds a mage's college where knowledge of the dragon might be obtained, as well as scrolls of protection or potions. There is a 4 to 48 hour waiting period before an audience with one of the masters of the college will be granted.

We dock at Cimbar. The dock is teeming with activity. There are thousands of people and hundreds of ships crowding the dock area. The city rests between two hills with two ancient pyramids on the horizon. Highspirits leaves to arrange ship repair and returns somewhat after evening has fallen. Erin leaves before dark on the errand of communing with his goddess. Highspirits urges him not to go but the barbarian insists and sets out on his own.

The night passes uneventfully. Erin returns near the end of second watch, which is Illuverin's, and the half-elf graciously relinquishes the watch to him. The next morning Erin relates his story to Lew over breakfast. That day the group heads into town. Illuverin and Jaret split off from the rest and separate going down to the common market. The rest go to the mage's college. Illuverin is able to find the clothing he needs and luckily stumbles on a very well stocked armor shop. He selects a stout, well crafted long bow and carefully looks over the arrows choosing 25 of the best. The others visit the mage's college and then Malph's Liquitorium.

After supplying himself, Illuverin asks around and finds a decent tavern for lunch. He has a good glass of wine and a satisfying lunch, after which he heads back to the docks to wait for the others.

The rest of the group gets back at roughly 3:00 in the afternoon and the ship gets underway for the few remaining hours of flight. (Lew and Illuverin meet. Lew gives +2 arrows and shows off the sheath dagger of speed.) Late afternoon we spot an odd flock of birds approaching the ship. When they get close enough we can tell they are sturges. Illuverin draws his sword and ducks down to provide only a minimal target.

MELEE

Caland kills a bunch with a forked Lightning Bolt. The rest do severe damage to Illuverin, Lew and Highspirits. Unfortunately and the end of the battle Lew has been killed.

As we are gathered around the body of our fallen comrade Illuverin lays a hand on his chest in farewell. Knowing that Lew would have understood the needs of the living, Illuverin removes the sheath and dagger of speed. He promises his friend he will wear it well.

At dusk we land and continue sailing through the night. The first watch, with Erin and Illuverin passes uneventfully. During the second watch, with Jaret, Highspirits and Erin awake and on watch, a dozen something's begin to scale the side of the ship. Fortunately, Jaret remembers to ring the bell which gives them pause and they slip back into the water. We make sail and continue.

During third watch Caland and A'Tora spot something cavorting in the waves off the side of the ship. As Caland calls down to A'Tora it turns to regard the ship and then sinks between the waves.

At noon the next day we pass Escalant and continue sailing because of the evil and dangerous nature of the city. An hour or so later Illuverin, from his vantage in the crow's nest, spots several pegasus flying above. They pass by without incident and we continue on until evening.
