Look into halfling messenger. Try to find out about Stoneyard and/or other members of his regular crew. Investigate the area where the body was found as that would seem to be somewhere around where "Dark Hall" was.
Handledor awakens shortly before eight bells and heads downstairs for a morning of tutoring his landlords children as is his usual obligation. The entire family is gathered around the breakfast table when he gets there and they invite the gnome to join them prior to beginning the days lessons. The man, Samtheled Wyrmstagels, his wife Lileas, son Tanick and daughter Nicca are all slightly overweight (as is not uncommon among the upper-middle class) but are thoroughly jovial and pleasant people and Handeldor is as font of the children and their parents as they seem to be of him.
Today is language lessons and Handeldor soon has the children laughing uproariously as he imitates his friend Khondrapere's strange accent as he goes through some of the days vocabulary words. Then not 15 minutes later Khondrapere and Kyle knock at the Haberdashers back door and, upon investigating the loud disturbance, Handeldor drags the dwarf off to introduce him to the children and run through the same list of vocabulary words, during which the children, seeing Handledor mimicing the dwarf as he is reciting, can't stop laughing.
Following the lessons Lilias feeds us a quick lunch and then the three friends head off down Dropping Way to visit the Fleetfeet Messenger Service to investigate the halfling messenger. The messenger service building is three stories tall and already the snow is drifting along the sides and accumulating on the roof. As we enter the old gnome behind the counter introduces himself as Gavelnick and asks if we need a message delivered. Handeldor says that we are hoping to speak with the messenger who delivered the message to Tegernyn a couple of days earlier as we are wondering if they might have seen anything unusual or could tell us something of the person who sent it. Gavelnick says that that information would be considered confidential but tells us, in an indirect way, how we might find out. He rings a small bell (one of many) and a small halfling, just slightly shorter than Handeldor comes racing downstairs. Her name is Muireal and she and Handledor strike up a lively conversation beginning with the subject of her spiky blue hair. We purchase her messenger services and pursuade her (with the aid of a platinum piece) to take a relaxed pace so that we can accompany her.
She leads us to one of the houses along the northern wall of the city in the Arrow Point neighborhood where she attempts to deliver the message. When no one answers the door at her knock she yells back to us. "How long do you want me to wait?"
Handeldor just waves at her and she stuffs the message underneath the door and then rejoins the gnome as Kyle and Khondrapere come out from their concealment and the group heads back towards Hunters District.
End of session.
