The five of us have left The Hammer & The Helm and are making the way across the street to our Dragon Poker game (and secret meeting) with Feramus. On the way we encounter Sleth's sister, a lovely gnome (Dervorgilla, a sorcery student), and a mischievious halfling (Krystal) who are standing together in the street. Sleth's sister informs him that their grandfather is dying and has asked for his presense so Sleth leaves. Handeldor eyes Dervorgilla and offers to buy her a drink after the game with his winnings but informs both her and Krystal that their game host is fairly strict about the number of participants so they would not be able to play, at least not this time. There is some low voiced discussion between Khondrapere and Kyle about whether Handeldor is actually going to win.
When we get to the apartment building where the game is to take place Marton positions himself by a window looking out towards the tavern as a lookout. When Feramus arrives he informs us that he has a proposition for us that we will need to relay to Sleth and Bael. He wants us to become Knights in Silver in secret so that we can get closer to some situations and people than the official uniform allows, an example being the only known illegal organization, a thieves guild called the Tarnished Ring. The initial mission is to investigate the murder of a well known dwarven architect at the hands of a drow disguized as a gold elf. The dwarf as it turns out is Khondrapere's "uncle" which gives us a great place and reason to start our adventure.
"There's the need for quiet investigation." He says explaining the situation. "The rate would be 50 gold pieces per month. We'd make sure you were adequately armed and would provide cover stories if and when needed. He tells us that we will be able to recognize official notes from our contact becasue they will contain the words "silver", "comradeship" and "amusing". He also gives us instructions on how to contact him (a set of coded candles displayed at particular times).
After the meeting Feramus puts down a bag of 300 gold pieces and declares that he is the big loser in the nights game. We then make our way back to The Hammer & The Helm when Marton spots Weasel ducking into an alley. He follows while the rest of us head into the tavern.
When we get there the ladies are sitting around a table having loads of fun laughing and drinking with a boisterous set of dwarf tossing going on in the background so we join them for Sandobar shots (a spiced form of everclear). After two rounds Handeldor persuades Khondrapere to play and he does, not very well, much to the dismay of Dervorgilla and quite a few others.
"Stop! Stop!" Handeldor jumps up getting Khon's attention. "Play something else, something we can dance to." Khon's second number goes over much better and soon Handeldor, Dervorgilla and Krystal are dancing merrily on the table. At the end of the song the tavern patrons start throwing coins on the table and end up more than paying for the eveings drinks.
During the songs Marton slips out and afterward, after the money has all been collected, Khondrapere and Kyle go to check on him which leaves Handeldor alone with the women. After another round Krystal offers to relieve Handledor of some of his winning in a nice game of Roll the Bones. Jade rolls her eyes and says, "Count me out of that one." and Handledor, while he thinks about it for moment, politely declines.
"Thank you no," he says to the cute little halfling as he puts his arm around Dervorgilla. "I think I might have other plans tonight."
Indeed only a few moments later Handeldor and Dervorgilla head off to Handeldor's apartment to spend the rest of the evening engaged in the more pleasurable nights pursuits.
End of session.
