Players: Kathi, JC, Chris
Characters: DM & Salaisee, Elendil & Jolley, Billi
[Game Time: Greengrass, 1373 D.R]
Greengrass begins with a light rain which tapers off around dawn. The clouds burn off and the day promises to be a glorious beginning of spring. Greengrass is a time for celebration. There's lots of dancing through the streets and all shops except flower shops, taverns and inns are closed. There are also dancing contests and may pole like competitions.
Elendil does not have any official duties for the temple flower stalls (thankfully being of high enough level to avoid them) so the four friends (including Muireall) look forward to a day of wandering the town, dancing and drinking, handing out flowers and receiving them as part of the celebration.
At one point we pass by the Dawn Dancer Hall where the dancers, when they see Salaisee, all cover their faces and stop their performance rather abruptly. It's quite a disruption and as the crowd turns towards us to see the cause Salaisee bows deeply, her beautiful smile radiant in defiance.
It's a sunny day and Greengrass passes pleasantly. When they get to the afternoons dance competition, Elendil feels lucky. As they pass the signup area he stops and with a look to his beautiful companion, extends his hand.
"Shall we?"
Salaisee takes his hand with a slight courtsey. "I believe we shall."
Not to be left out of the fun Billi and Muireall also sign up. During the competition Elendil and Salaisee earn 19, 26 and 20 flowers for the Greengrass pole, round and square dances. [Elendil only had to re-roll once!] Billi and Muireall earn 3, 5 and 11.
Sure enough, true to Elendil's prior good feelings, he and Salaisee are crowned Prince and Princess of the Round Dance for Greengrass. We go to the Dragonfly Cave for dinner where it's busy and bustling as befits the holiday. Fortunately they've saved a table for us. Word of our victory has apparently preceeded us and Meliamia announces us to the crowd proudly (Billi and Muireall too) and we all put on a wonderful encore performance. The crowd loves it and showers the dance area with flowers.
After dinner we go to the market for the evening singing. We miss the first thirty minutes or so but enjoy the rest of the evening before heading home. One of the instructors from Utremm's Music Conservatory is another red head, a middle aged bard named Sarana. Apparently she's very famous as a member of the Otherworlders but the name doesn't mean anything to Elendil.
After we get home, and Elendil kisses his princesses hand with a flourishing bow, he heads up to bed leaving Salaisee yawning (about to do the same) and Billi fixing himself and Muireall a late evening snack. As he settles in and closes his eyes his mind replays the day. The delight of the new spring wines, the rain of flowers, the intoxicating of aroma of Salaisee's bath oils as he held her close in the dance, the feel of her body and the soft touch of her cheek against his, even the antics of Billi and Mureiall dancing on the tables at the Dragonfly Cave. He smiles as sleep overtakes him, blessing his luck and thanking The Lady for the day.
1st of Mirtul
Muireall leaves after breakfast, but returns a half an hour later with a message from Radori and Gobriann. They've found a good candidate for staying in the house, another undercover Silver Night named Math. He's going to come by this afternoon so we can meet him. It will be four days until Billi's potions are ready on the fourth.
The three of them head over to the West Barrack to meet Dorren James and find out about the pass being open. Unfortunately there have been several avalanches that have kept the pass from being opened as yet, but they're hoping for it to be opened in 10 days, 15 at the latest. Elendil inquires about if there's any sign of Jolley yet after the holiday festivities and Dorren just laughs.
We tell him we're headed for Sundabar and ask if there's anything specific we should be on the lookout for during the journey. Mostly wild animals, an occasional hill giant or ettin, but the Knights have mostly kept the orcs and goblins clear. There is much trade along the dwarf roads and up into the mountains so it shouldn't be too bad.
Helm Dwarf-friend is the Lord. Has taken efficient control and is well liked as he is dedicated to the defense of the city and trade routes. The population is half human and a third dwarf.
We talk about it over lunch at the Dancing Goat and decide to leave on the 9th unless there's no sign of the pass being open. Our favorite waiter/bartender (the guy passed messages for Elendil and Til) takes our order and makes sure we are well taken care of. We thank Desmond (he's freshly named) and then head across the bridge to the Mystical Toad Magic Shoppe. Grogan, the proprietor is an elderly halfling female.
We inquire about items specifically designed for cold weather adventuring or cold climates in general. She has two pair of Boots of Winterland one for medium sized humanoids, one for small humanoids. She also has a Chain Shirt of Cold Resistance. We buy the small boots for Billi so he can be effective and sneaky scouting through the snow.
Price of healing potions at the temple of Tymora:
Later that afternoon we head to the Adventurer's Guild for some supplies. Salaisee joins the guild and essentially has to totally resupply herself following her previous travels (and loss of home).
Other purchases made:
Jolley Cold weather gear, Continual Flame Torch
Elendil Horse blanket, oil, Continual Flame on end of staff., leather cover for staff end (need to order at Dornsar Leathers)
Other shops that have Guild Affiliation (offering 10% discount to members) include the following, mostly dealers in weapons and armor.
We missed Math for the 2pm visit and will make it a point to go find him in the morning as it was our fault we missed him in the afternoon.
As he builds a fire, Elendil decides that the single chairs they have in front of the fireplace just won't do going forward, so they will have to acquire a love seat now that Salaisee lives with us.
2nd of Mirtul
We head to the market place to find Math. He has a small stage setup for public shows. He has red hair & freckles, your typical kid next door. He looks like a kid of 18 or 20 but we know from Radori and Gobriann's message he's actually a Silver Knight. His main puppet is a horse named Barley.
His show is spectacular and Elendil, Salaisee and Billi find they really enjoy it. Afterward we catch up with him. Billi says we'd charge 5 gp per month. He finds the arrangement very acceptable and we let him know that he can move in any time into the downstairs bedroom.
We then head to Turlough March, Locksmith, #210 in The Boot, Hunter's District, to have three keys made before heading home for lunch.
We then go to Chancy's Chairs, #185 Arrow Point, Hunters District, for the purchase of a love seat. Elendil finds one he likes and invites Salaisee to "test" it with him. It has a lovely rich oak frame with leather covered cushions. She smiles and joins him, shifting her weight delicately as she settles next to him. It seems very acceptable and they pay the 60 gp and have it delivered in the morning.
After lunch, Billi goes to pick up the keys. After he returns, he joins Elendil and Salaisee to go across to the Silver Horse Stable. Elendil orders a custom fitted blanket for Sander and they ask to look at the available horses. (The blanket will be ready on the 5th.) Then, to make sure those needing mounts have the best set of choices, we go to the Blacklar stables (where Sander used to be boarded) to look at what's available there.
Jolley chooses Segnar from the Silver Stables, Salaisee chooses Astral from Blacklar, Billi chooses Handsome from Blacklar, and the group chooses Whiskey and Grog (two pack mules) from the Silver Stables.
We start to head home for dinner but Billi wants sticky buns so we change and go to the Dragonfly Cave where it's pleasantly quiet, a real change from last night. There's a halfling named Dugal, a hard working chap in a leather apron, who seems to have a crush on Muireall but Billi's not one to object if Muireall doesn't.
3rd of Mirtul
We start to think about having a house warming party before departing and begin to set out the details over breakfast. We decide on the majority of the guest list and that we'll get some kitchen help for Billi so he'll have a chance to mingle and enjoy the party. It's cold outside but after the love seat is delivered Elendil keeps the fire toasty and the group just stays home and enjoys a quiet day.
4th of Mirtul
A little warmer but now it's raining. Elendil tries to stay in bed and sleep late but his body clock doesn't allow it and by the time Billi departs to pick up his potions Elendil is downstairs reading a tome on the different herbs and roots needed to brew the non-magical components of various healing potions. He waves offhandedly to Billi who is nearly bouncing in anticipation of having more magic as he heads out the door, even if it is only a couple potions.
Salaisee comes down a short while later and it is all Elendil can do keep his eyes placed firmly in confines of their sockets. She's not yet dressed and has come downstairs in what Eledndil initally takes to be just wrapped in her blanket. A moment later he can see that she is still wearing her sleeping attire, a thin cream colored silky thing, but that only makes her more alluring (if that's possible). He smiles and comments that Billi's hot tea is particulary good this morning and that she should certainly have some.
Billi, when he gets to the Shining Scroll, is met not by Xara but by a fanciful faerie dragon (the real owner of the shop apparently) who tells him that his familliar (Xara) should be along shortly. The two enjoy some good conversation before Xara appears with the potions.
About lunchtime, Dorren James knocks on the door. He's interested in Billi's reputation as a cook and says he has some good news. As Billi brings him in lunch, he tells us that the pass is already mostly cleared and should be completely cleared by the 7th (before we were scheduled to leave).
We decide our party should be at the Bronze Pegasus and we stop by to rent the room large enough for 14 to 15 people. We have Fleet Feet deliver the invitations for tomorrow, and purchase two potions of Cure Critical Wounds. We decide to leave on the 7th after Math has a chance to get all settled in.
End of session.
Next sessions: 4/10 and 5/1
