Characters: DM & Salaisee, Elendil & Cyrus, Billimiah (Billi)

Billi spends some time at the door muttering as he tries to pick the lock and finally, after a few minutes, looks up at the others and points at the door smiling. Salaisee and Billi hear a menacing growl behind the door. The halfling steps back and begins casting Prestidigitation at which point blue smoke begins to pour under the doorway into the room beyond. When he opens the door a large black wolf lunges out on top of him and bites the halfling putting him down.

MELEE

Salaisee and Cyrus attack immediately as a large rat also charges out of the room and attacks Cyrus. After multiple repeated blows the dire wolf is killed and it poofs into smoke and vanishes, as does the rat when Cyrus carves it in half. Salaisee casts Cure Moderate Wounds on Billi and herself and Elendil casts Cure Light Wounds on himself. We enter the room and check for secret doors. Nobody finds any and then Elendil casts Detect Magic but doesn't find anything so we decide we either missed the secret door or that the mage had a magical way out.

We go around the corner to check the workshop that had all the locks. Billi pockets all of the loose keys he can find. Elendil listens at one of the doors, hearing nothing and tells Billi it's unlocked. Naturally after listening at it himself (and hearing nothing) the halfling opens the door and goes in. It's full of stolen poor boxes, all full of money, and other obvious church property. At the door into this room we have to help Sander through by removing one of the saddlebags from his side.

Billi listens at the next door and quietly reports that there's a muffled sound of something heavy being dragged across the floor. There's also the sounds of a heavy footfall and of a snuffling behind the door at which point we're thinking "dragon" and decide to leave it alone. Returning back to the wide hallway we continue to the east. Elendil is in the lead and as he comes to a wide junction where there's a door and the passageway turns back north he is engulfed in a cone of fire from what appears to be a man sized dragon. He leaps forward towards partial shelter and only takes half damage. Having not encountered this particular creature before Elendil calls out "Dragon!" to warn the others

MELEE

Elendil casts Sound Burst but he can't tell if there's any affect on the creature which is actually just a wormling. Cyrus comes charging around the corner and comes face to face with the creature. He hits it but takes a ferocious bite and a blow from one of the claws in return. Salaisee casts Divine Favor on herself and comes to just shy of rounding the corner waiting until she can attack before proceeding. Billi retrieves a scroll and comes as close to the battle as he can.

The next round Elendil comes into battle and he and Cyrus both pound on it and again the wormling bites and smites Cyrus who staggers back at the edge of conciousness.  Salaisee comes around the combatants and casts Aid on Cyrus, and then in the next round casts Cure Moderate Wounds on him. Billi, finally in range, reads a Melfs Acid Arrow from a scroll and hits the wormling.

After another round of damage from Elendil and Cyrus the wormling goes down and after a few cures we hear a strange voice calling out for parlay. We call them out and two lizard come from behind one of the doors. They say they do not wish to fight (having just seen us defeat the wormling) and were only here to care for the wormling. Elendil tells them that their work is therefore done, a point to which they agree and then they ask to leave. We ask them about a ceremonial chamber to which one replies, "Big room. Directioin of setting sun. Many skittlies, big skittlies." After a brief clarification we get that skittlies are giant spiders, a prospect at which we all inwardly shudder a bit.

As the lizardman leave Elendil follows them some 30 feet and watches closely as they disappear down the passageway to the north, which narrows down to 10' wide as it continues. [Elendil has again advanced a level.]

After checking the door to the east which is a room smelling of burnt something. We travel down the passageway to the north, turn a corner to the west and then the next corridor heading back south. There are doors alternating along the east and west side of the corridor which appear to be small meditation chambers. Before Billi reaches the end of the passageway several large skeletons (with stingers at the ends of their tails) come out to attack. Elendil turns them handily and they retreat back into rooms from whence they cameand Billi, who's gone on ahead to investigate, finds a 20' square room that appears to be lined with empty shelves, behind one of which he finds a hidden compartment with a vial and a scroll tube.

Unfortunately before Billi returns the duration of the turn expires and the skeletons reappear. Cyrus attacks the one nearest he and Elendil and Elendil again turns them. Cyrus pursues one (killing it while it cowers) and Salaisee does the same. Cyrus kills the last whil Billi continues to search the room.

Billi returns to the group showing off the scroll and potion he's found. We discuss remaining in this room at the end of the corridor but decide to head back outside to the high ridge where we first spotted the monestary. It is an uneventful journey and by the time we get back it is nearly dark. Elendil recommends a fireless campsite and the evening passes uneventfully. After breakfast we head back to the monestary.
