Characters: DM & Salaisee, Elendil & Cyrus, Billimiah (Billi)

[Addendum to clerical max hit points. Clerics get Wisdom bonus on DC check.]

After refilling our water skins and taking a bucket to Sander we continue on into the dungeon. We proceed to the east and Billi listens at several doors at the end of the passageway as it has turned north. He hears nothing at either and decides to open the one on the east.  It starts to creak a little bit after he opens it about a foot and Billi freezes at the sound and listens intently again. Hearing nothing he smells just a damp dankness and, leaving the door open, crosses to the west side of the hall and opens it to a hideous shreaking sound.

Billi slams the door closed (which none of the others can hear because of the LOUD shreaking) and hurriedly returns to the rest of the group. Elendil retrieves the bullseye lantern and continue to the east reaching the next intersection. All of a sudden Cyrus is attacket from the rear by something that bites his shoulder. He turns to see a couple of ghouls.

MELEE

He attacks and hits one for some good damage. Sander turns around in the passage way and Salaisee advances toward the battle, coming up next to the horse, ready to Turn Undead. The creatures are turned and flee to the north where they enter the west room and set off the shreakers again. Cyrus pursues them and sticks the torch into the room and then looks in. He sees the shreaker propped up against the wall on a piece of wood but there is no sign of the ghouls.

Cyrus torches the shreaker, a process that takes a couple rounds and produces a nasty smell. Billi enters the room and peers down the continuing passageway to the west. He hears a faint muffled moaning sound and he and Cyrus step back into the room to search for secret doors in the western wall. Cyrus is the one that actually spots it and can tell its a hinged section of wall that opens inward. The fighter steps back after pointing it out to Billi who checks it for any obvious traps. He doesn't find anything and pushes the door open to reveal the two cowering ghouls. Cyrus advances in to kill the ghouls. He dispatches one with a single blow (the one he'd hit before) but the other escapes through a secret door at the end of the passageway. Cyrus follows leaving Billi in the dark to investigate a pile of stuff he'd spotted but that Cyrus, focusd on the ghoul, did not.

By this time Elendil has entered the room leaving Salaisee and Sander in the hallway. Elendil advances to the west and meets Cyrus who points out the secret door. The two open it to reveal Billi going through a pile of stuff and counting the pile of gold coins. Elendil casts Detect Magic and quickly zeroes in on a war hammer which has a medium strength aura.  It is of the Enchantment school of magic which Elendil figures to be a simple weapon bonus during melee use. One of the scrolls that Billi found was Magic Circle vs. Good which Elendil says must be destroyed so Billi burns it.

Billi picks up 10 of the gold pieces and Elendil takes a few because of they're coins from Silvery Moon that are old enough to be an uncommon oddity. We return to the corridor where Salaisee and Sander are waiting quietly, listening in the dark, and then return to the junction. Billi takes the bullseye lantern and leads the group quietly to the south where he listens at the door. Hearing nothing he opens it and shines the light into a small room. It's another storage room that has a half eaten giant centipede and another that might or might not be still alive. The halfling doesn't go in to find out and he closes the door. As he stands and listens the others quiet down to not interfere and although Billi doesn't hear anything both Elendil and Cyrus do, a sort of mindless babbling against which both make a successful saving throw.

The group advances towards the voice and all of a sudden both Salaisee and Billi stop, fascinated beyond reason by the hypnotic sound of the endless voice droning on. Elendil pushes past and sees a wraith like figure wandering the room. When it sees him it shreiks and flys to attack.

MELEE

It tries to rake at him and its incorporeal touch passes through Elendil's armor and he feels the unearthly cold of its touch against his flesh. [Elendil has sustained a permanent loss of a wisdom point.] His first inclination is to turn it but before he gets a chance Cyrus barges in to attack it, which is just as well as Elendil's Turn Undead is not effective. He then attacks it with the war hammer and does seem to be doing damage where it is unclear as to whether Cyrus has affected it.

The next round it hits Cyrus [who looses four Wisdom points] and the two finally dispel/dispatch it with repeated blows. On the back wall is the symbol of a black clenched fist holding six arrows. Billi listens at the door, hearing nothing and opens it to reveal a short passageway leading east. Across the hall is another door. Billi goes to the end of the passageway to the west and looks to the north as the passageway turns. Seeing nothing but continuing passageway he returns to wheere Elendil is listening at the door. The cleric hears retreating footsteps but as he turns to inform the others Billi opens the door and they peer into a wide hallway that continues off to the south.

As we continue into the wide hallway we stop a door on the east wall where Billi leans against it listening intently. He hears a soft shrill high pitched sound followed by a soft "Shh." The halfling points at the door and mouths "They're speaking common!" back to the others. He tries to pick the lock but is unsuccessful. We continue around the bend in the wide passageway and there's another door on the north wall and an opening into a room on the east. The door on the north wall is open a few inches. From that door several winged things fly past him that become visible when the lash out with barbed tails.

MELEE

They appear to be small humanoids with leathery bat wings and gleaming white horns and teeth. They both hit Elendil for minor damage and the poison in the sting does not take hold. Billi casts Magic Missle on one for good damage. Cyrus obliterates one while the other flaps around continuing to attack. It turns invisible right as Elendil is orienting on it and despite the fact he can still hear it his blow misses.

Salaisee screams as she takes damage from a blue glowing bat that has swooped down from somewhere and touched her. [Salaisee takes one point of temporary strength loss.]

Elendil hears, swings at and kills the remaining imp which falls to the ground quite visible and quite dead. Meanwhile Salaisee is still battling the blue bat.  Billi joins the battle and hits the bat with a Magic Missle. It flees back into the the room it, and the imps, came from. Something closes the door behind it.
