Elvensong Campaign Session
Chamber of Wonders

We start into the antechamber. Immediately all iron and steel is super magnetized from above and Ana, Neysa and Tanji get slammed to the ceiling thanks to their metal based armor. Krys is unaffected because she is wearing a mithral shirt. Rumblekin closes the doors and all objects (and party members) stuck to the ceiling fall. Ana manages to land under Neysa breaking her fall. Tanji also falls and takes minor damage.

Having learned our lesson, we remove all metal from our persons and leave them in a pile in the main chamber. Rumblekin opens the doors again!

The room contains much ornately carved stonework and several chests but our eyes are drawn first to two fascinating devices. The first is a large mechanical frog that is big enough for someone to crawl inside and ride. It is bluish-green in color and made of copper. The other is a horse made of metal.

Tanji looks around and spots a lever on the wall. It is in the opposite position from the lever outside. Then she checks the first chest where she finds three sacks. One contains silver pieces, one gold pieces, and one platinum pieces. (Note forward: When Neysa later casts Detect Magic, nothing in this chest radiates.)

The second chest opens easily and contains a spear, a warhammer, plate mail, chain shirt (from the lack of corrosion we quickly ascertain it is a Mithral shirt like Krys's), and a repeating crossbow. (Note forward: No Magic.)

The third is a sealed shipping crate with no obvious way to open. Ana is able to move it.

The fourth chest contains gems. [Tanji Note: It contains a few less than one might have supposed.]

The fifth chest contains papers and scrolls. Neysa comes to look and Rumblekin starts explaining that it's some sort of plans. He proceeds to read aloud but Ana stops him fearing a spell might go off. Rumblekin finds the scroll for the manufacture of adamantine (or is it adamantite?) which is the very thing we were sent by Illandar to get.

The sixth chest contains a copper hammer with garnets inlaid along the handle, a statue of the Artificer made of horn, and a copper chalice adorned with rubies.

Next we come to the Hoppy Frog and see it has two levers and a red button. Tanji climbs aboard and activates it. First it jumps into a wall, then as she figures out the control she gets it to hop forward and back. [Tanji Note: A fun bit of amusement, but as a mode of travel, one can imagine that after a short time of HOPPING, one's equilibrium might become a little upset.]

Ana sets the mechanical horse to rights after it was knocked over by one of Tanji's erratic "frog hops". He finds that the pommel, bridle and reins are loose like on a normal horse.

The seventh chest contains something wrapped in silk, a lyre. This attracts Krys's attention. Rumblekin has heard of it and explains that somehow it was used during the temple's construction. Krys strums it and everyone remarks on it's beautiful tone. There is also a set of wings. (Note Forward: Both the Wings and the Lyre radiated magic.)

The eighth chest contains a Rod protected in a velvet covering. The Rod is inlaid with bands of gold and silver and gems. Neysa casts detect magic and focuses on the road for a couple of rounds noting it radiates strongly.

The ninth chest contains a Belt made of a dense speckled hide and a set of additional strap-on Arms. Both of these radiate magic.

The tenth and final chest contains three blocks of incense, a large tome wrapped in cloth that turns out to be a Book of Prayers, a clerical spell book of sorts.

Tanji decides to test the lever inside the room. She slides the warhammer out into the antechamber and it springs straight to the ceiling. She changes the lever and the warhammer falls.

Rumblekin then says we should all take something. Tanji wants the Wings and Neysa takes the mithral shirt. Ana experiments with the horse and then dismounts. He thinks about asking for the horse but decides it is too much to ask for.

Now that she has disabled the magnet trap, Tanji retrieves her crow bar and pries open the crate. It contains vestments for priests of the Artificer.

Ana takes some gems, several nice tiger eyes worth about 8 gp each. He searches through them some more but finds nothing else he wants.

Krys takes 25 platinum pieces. She would like to ask for the Lyre, but like Ana, realizes that it is too precious and should remain with the temple.

The group leaves the Chamber of Wonders and Rumblekin shuts the door behind them, relocking it. Back in the big room, Rumblekin says everyone should follow him up the steps while he removes the gear key pieces from the face of the anvil.

He resets the magnet trap and the room unrotates. We go back downstairs and make plans to depart the following day. Rumblekin wants to take two items that we have to talk him out of, his beloved Rust Monster and several jars of the nasty pickled eels. Tanji and Krys volunteer to help Rumblekin help the rust monster out of the pit and into the caverns in the mountain which is its natural habitat.

Evening passes quietly. Ana and Neysa again share one of the acolyte rooms and Tanji and Krys take another.

End of session.
